My PC woke up from sleep on its own. When I signed in, there was a popup from McAfee. I discovered that it had just been installed at the precise time my PC was awakened. I uninstalled it but am having a lot of trouble getting rid of all the related files. I'm getting help for that on a separate post. But I am wondering how the heck this happened.
Mcafee doesn't want you to uninstall their software. They make that perfectly clear when you try to uninstall it. Don't go to the website that is creating the problem.

McAfee Security Scan -- unable to uninstall. I have been trying to get rid of McAfee Security Scan on the "programs" list but it tells me I cannot uninstall as I don't have sufficient access -- I had McAfee uninstalled last year when I had my computer serviced and they installed Kaspersky instead -- which I have been very happy with.

McAfee Security Scan Plus uninstaller opens to a blank screen that cannot be interacted with in any way. I have tried both add/remove features, control panel, mcafee's uninstall.exe, but they all lead to the same blank screen. How can I remove this program permanently from my computer?
