I understand the proposed benefits of Windows 10 S Mode as should stop unwanted or malicious software being installed however its also impact the security of the laptop. I have recently purchased a laptop (Lenovo) for my daughter however I'm unable to install there device drivers or BIOS updates as not listed in the Microsoft store!!! Any advice?

I've got a printer that I periodically have to install on a number of computers... I've lost the driver disk, but the drivers are on windows update. The only problem is that windows update takes forever when I'm updating the printer driver db. I'd like to just toss the driver onto my network storage machine.

This is unlikely to work as many driver installers use scripted behavior to install themselves onto a system. (Eg; graphics drivers) The best course of action is to install the network driver and download them from the manufacturer's web site. Alternatively, put them on a USB key and install them.
On my MacBook Pro (8,1 early 2011, MacOS 10.13) I first installed Win 7 via BootCamp and Win 7 install DVD. In Win 7 I installed the Win 7 drivers supplied by BootCamp. Then I downloaded MediaCretionTool from MS and with it I installed Win 10 over Win 7. After booting Win 10 Hardware Manager showed a few missing drivers.
If this is the case, use the latest Windows drivers available for your model. So if they only have Windows 7 drivers, try using those. Make sure you download the right drivers for your architecture (32 or 64 bit). Proceed to download the appropriate drivers after selecting your version of Windows.

Windows itself includes some drivers that do not have to be downloaded from Windows Update. Take as an example the drivers that get installed automatically whenever you insert a USB storage stick. Do I need to visit the 3rd party web sites to download drivers or is this not necessary as I do not see any issues in the device manager?
Go to Download driver and firmware for Surface, choose your Surface device model then click Download on the next page. Choose the .msi file that matches your current OS Build and click Next . After downloading, run and install the .msi then Restart.
