November 28, 2011 at 10:47 pm #1012781. Depends on how you like to hunt. I spend most of my time during archery season using hang on stands because it allows me to be very mobile and adjust to different conditions and deer patterns; however during rifle season when rut is on and I plan on sitting all day I’ve got a couple of enclosed stands ...

The main advantages of an enclosed stand are protection from weather which during rain/snow or high winds will help allow you to stay on stand all day and most importantly an enclosed stand gives you more freedom to move/stretch without being visible to deer.

About 10 years ago, I was pricing out lumber for replacing a couple of permanent tree stands we had that were in bad shape. I always use treated lumber and I like big stands that give plenty of room to move if it becomes necessary. I also build full rails for safety and to serve as a rest.

The other one “Nigey”, had some time was spent on it, but it is the cats meow and well worth every hour and $ spent. Basically it was a 4×4 fish house that we converted into a deer stand and man is it warm, comfy, easy to look out and shoot out of. This one costed us $480.00.

Well, I’m getting old and the backs been taking its toll. There’s always been a balance between light weight and comfort…and I enjoy comfort now days. I bought a very comfy and, comparative, it’s pretty light weight deer stand. It’s basically a millennium m-150 (different brand, same specs) but I also installed a shooting rail.

Instead of getting mad at the DNR get mad at the people that left trailers on the public even after being told to get them off. Now the officers just need to cuff the people the stands belonged to, and make them clean up the mess as their community service. If dynamite is what it takes to get all the stands left on public removed I say have at it.

Posts: 2389. November 3, 2009 at 5:13 pm #200893. I’m looking to finish my box blind project. I have the framework (untreated 2×4’s for the box on top of my treated base) essentially done, but I don’t want to fully put it out in the elements until I get the outside wall material on hand. We have some tin material to use for the roof, but ...

Let’s see some, we have photos of our harvests, lets see why we set up there, and why the deer would come in. These are both from the same stand, to the north we had a mineral lick (1st photo) and to the south we have a nice little food plot (2nd photo).

Not sure in all cases but dropping ducks in the cattails and not looking for them or counting them dont sit well with Johnny Law. Losing stuff happens but these guys did it everyday. JEREMY. BP. Posts: 3624. September 5, 2024 at 1:31 pm #2288199.
