Origins. The Kiga people are believed to have their origins in Rwanda. This is mentioned in one of their folk songs - Abakiga twena tukaruga Rwanda, omu Byumba na Ruhenjere - (All of us Bakiga, we came from Rwanda, from Byumba and Ruhenjere).
