So I wanna use the quartile function in combination with the IF function. I have football data and I wanna use the cells of a particular team. So I created this formula: =QUARTILE (IF (E$8:E$1618=D$1621,N$8:N$1618),1) D$1621 is the cell with name of the team I choose. E$8:E:1618 is the column with the teamnames.
Re: Trying to get Quartile to ignore zeros. Once you add a condition to QUARTILE, it needs to be array entered. Array Formulae are a little different from ordinary formulae in that they MUST be confirmed in the FIRST CELL ONLY by pressing CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER to activate the array, not just ENTER.

So, in my QUARTILE formula I need to write in IF equation so it only computes quartile 1 when the Place Column equals 1. Does that make sense. Table 1 Place ...
And if you need Excel 2007 compatibility, you must use QUARTILE anyway, which I think is compatible with QUARTILE.EXC, IIRC. The unexpected results are due to the way that Excel interpolates because 25% and 75% are not multiples of 1/(n-1). I would agree with your expectations. But off-hand, I cannot find the actual formula that Excel uses.
