  2. Early 1940s "Standard" Tub Drain - Love Plumbing & Remodel

    terrylove.com/forums/index.php?threads/early-1940s-standard-tub-drain.100381

New Member. I am renovating a house built in the early '40s and it has probably the original cast iron tub w/ probably replacement Sayco faucet and probably original "Standard" drain and overflow. The drain is my problem - it does not close. It is an odd design in that there is a rod that runs horizontally through the pipe below the drain opening.

  3. Brass or PVC for Bathtub Drain - Love Plumbing & Remodel

Sch 40 waste and overflow systems can be more difficult to work with than tubular brass or plastic, but they also give you bit more freedom to make adjustments for alignment. The only time I would use a brass W&O would be if the customer wanted a "trip lever" operated unit. I am not a fan of the cable operated drains.

  4. New bath- slow tub drain - Love Plumbing & Remodel

Jan 8, 2009. #1. I have a new 5' jet tub with all new plumbing from tub to basement that seems to drain slow. I get about an inch of water about a foot around the drain when showering, and full bath takes a long time to drain. The tub drains into a 2" trap into a 2" line that runs 4' under the tub and drops 12" @45deg and turns 90deg (long ...

  5. Very noisy bathtub drain - Love Plumbing & Remodel

    terrylove.com/forums/index.php?threads/very-noisy-bathtub-drain.35962

Apr 24, 2010. #8. The "gurgling" noise you hear is how I tell if a tub drain is working at its optimum best. When it does, it aspirates air into the water flow through the overflow. The faster the water is draining the more air it draws and the greater the noise level is. A drain that makes NO noise is almost plugged up.

  6. Slow drain - new tub - Love Plumbing & Remodel

    terrylove.com/forums/index.php?threads/slow-drain-new-tub.72245

Reroute the drain, giving it a proper slope. If I'm reading this correctly, a 1½ diameter drain pipe gets ¼" drop for every 1' of length to a max of 3" over 12' of distance between the furthest fixture on the drain and the soil pipe (stack), and using long sweep 90° elbows or 2 - 45° for corners.

well My dad brought his auger over a 50ft one he uses on the drains at work. we hit a sold obstruction about 40 ft down the line that we couldn't clear. So we started digging on January 1st (happy new year!). I'm in the Tampa Bay area of Florida. we have "orangeberg" pipes that were used here. It's what I have I found out.

  9. I can't remove the tub drain on my bathtub. - Love Plumbing &...

    terrylove.com/.../index.php?threads/i-cant-remove-the-tub-drain-on-my-bathtub.6498

"BASICALLY, are all bathtub drains threaded? I don't want to remove this drain only to find out the tub isn't threaded and i will be totally screwed over." The tub itself is not threaded; it is just a hole. There is a drain below which has a fine thread. If you are successful and fortunate, you can unscrew the top piece from the lower piece.

  10. Do they make tub drains that go straight down from the drain...

    terrylove.com/forums/index.php?threads/do-they-make-tub-drains-that-go...

I roughed in the drain for my tub to where the drain will be, rather than where the overflow pipe would be. I know they make the drains you push down that go straight down from the tub drain, but do they make the kind with the lever and overflow that go straight down from the tub drain rather...
