The Schwinge is a 4.6-kilometre-long (2.9 mi) federal waterway from the Elbe to the Salztorschleuse. Since the completion of the Schwingesperrwerk, a flood barrier near the mouth of the river in 1971, all places at the Schwinge are protected better against storm surges. The 16-metre-wide (52 ft) gap is closed with two gates.

The Yahara River (/ j ə ˈ h ær ə /) is a tributary of the Rock River in southern Wisconsin. It is about 62 miles (100 km) long [3] (including the distance across intervening lakes), and drains an area of 536 square miles (1,390 km 2). [4] Via the Rock River, it is part of the watershed of the Mississippi River.
The lower Wisconsin River flows through glacial drift until it enters the Driftless Area and eventually reaches the Mississippi River. [1] It extends about 116 river miles (187 river kilometers) from Portage to its confluence with the Mississippi River, falling 171 feet (52 m) from about elevation 782 feet (238 m) above sea level (msl) at Portage to 611 feet (186 m), msl at the Mississippi.
