The Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) is a research center for physical and mathematical sciences, located in Trieste, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy. The center operates under a tripartite agreement between the Italian Government , UNESCO , and the International Atomic Energy Agency .
The Dirac Medal of the ICTP is given each year by the International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) in honour of physicist Paul Dirac. The award, announced each year on 8 August (Dirac's birthday), was first awarded in 1985. [1] An international committee of distinguished scientists selects the winners from a list of nominated candidates.
The International Centre for Theoretical Physics Prize (ICTP Prize) is an annual award given by the ICTP Scientific Council since 1982. It is given to outstanding and original contributions in physics by young scientists from, and working in, developing countries. The prize includes a sculpture, certificate and a cash award.

ICTP is coordinated by the Mathematical Section and belongs to the Cluj-Napoca Branch of the Romanian Academy. The Institute performs fundamental research mainly in the field of Numerical Analysis.
