I have a 26 foot Sailfish Center Console that we do a fair amount of spearfishing off of. We usually just keep spearguns in bags laying on the deck. Looking for different options for storing the guns (at least 4 guns) vertically in the back of the boat and do not want to drill holes into the boat for mounting. Any ideas would be most appreciated.

I am trying to track down a guy here who supposedly runs a boat out of progreso. I will ask the guys out of AQUAMAN for some ideas when I see them early next week. Last edited by kiomon; 10-28-2015 at 09:57 PM .
I like the tarp and foul weather gear ideas. They will go well with beer, bacon, and eggs in the morning. Robbert- Good point about anchoring. On this trip we are going to get a mooring, but I know that my friend's boat is rigged to spend the night on the anchor. He has two anchors and the necessary anchor line.
Since the boat is a WalkAround style hull/cabin there isn't a whole lot of room for that sort of thing. After a year of working on this in my head I finally started about 3 weeks ago. After MANY design ideas I finally came up with what I feel was the best way to go. Unfortunately, it involved cutting into the gunnel caps.
Want to find out something for those of you with experience with big pine shoal reef. Everytime I go there I have a real hard time getting my anchor out.
Post here to discuss accidents, incidents, ideas, gear, or anything else to improve spearfishing safety. Memorials and condolences threads should be placed in that separate forum. Walk the beaches on an ultra low tide and you will get a feel for where the reefs are. Look at some images of the coast from the air on the interwebs too for ideas of where to dive. Know your MLPAS and target species and sizes/seasons/limits, or ultra vigilant DFG warden Cohen will be there when you F up.

If you have the $ for fueland dont mind boat rides of 1-2 hours, there are fish to be speared. 30-40 miles off shore gets you around 90 ft to 140 ft deep. Lots of wrecks and limestone ledges mix of hard bottom also. Oh, and lots of sand with nothing around, so you need to watch your depthfinder as you go to find the spots.
