The August Kestner Museum (German: Museum August Kestner), previously Kestner-Museum, is a museum in Hanover, Germany.Founded in 1889, the museum was renamed in December 2007 to avoid confusion with the Kestnergesellschaft, a local art gallery.
Kestner Gesellschaft (Kestner Society) is an art institution in Hanover, Germany, founded in 1916 to promote the arts. Its founders included the painter Wilhelm von Debschitz (1871–1948). The association blossomed under the management of Alexander Dorner [ de ] and Justus Bier [ de ] , pioneering modern art.

Museum August Kestner was founded in 1889 and exhibits art of ancient and Egyptian cultures, design, coins and medals. The portal at the entrance to the building department (Baudezernat) dates to 1736. It was moved there in 1955 after the barracks whose stable it adorned was destroyed by the aerial bombings during World War II.
