Modimolle Local Municipality was a municipality located in the Waterberg District Municipality of Limpopo province, South Africa. The seat of Modimolle Local Municipality was Modimolle . After municipal elections on 3 August 2016 it was merged into the new and larger Modimolle–Mookgophong Local Municipality .

The seat is Modimolle. As of 2016, the majority of its 745,758 residents spoke Sepedi, also known as Northern Sotho. The district code is DC36.
The seat of Mookgophong Local Municipality was Mookgophong. The Municipality was named after the type of tree found in the area, Mokgopa (a cactus). [3] After municipal elections on 3 August 2016 it was merged into the larger Modimolle–Mookgophong Local Municipality.
