Cratloe-Sixmilebridge is a parish in County Clare, Ireland, and part of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Limerick. [1] As of 2021, parish priest is Richard Keane. [2]
In 1837, the village was split between the Church of Ireland parishes of Kilfentinan and Kilfinaghty while the Roman Catholic parish of Sixmilebridge was a union of the Kilmurry-Negaul, Kilfinaghta and Feenagh parishes. [17] [18] The church of St. Finnachta was built in 1812 in Sixmilebridge, a thatched building with a mud floor.
The diocese is divided into 58 parishes, which are spread across five counties: 38 in Clare, thirteen in Tipperary, five in Offaly, one in Limerick, and one group parish in Laois. [ 1 ] The parishes are grouped into 15 Pastoral Areas, where groups of priests are appointed to cover a number of parishes between them.
In addition to the parish church, the Church of St. John, Cratloe, there is another church within the parish, on the approach to the village of Sixmilebridge. This church is known locally as "The Little Church", and is unusual in that it is not dedicated to any particular saint.
O'Callaghan's Mills (Irish: Muillte Uí Cheallacháin), also O'Callaghansmills, [1] is a village in County Clare, Ireland, and a Catholic parish by the same name.It takes its name from the O'Callaghan family who were large landowners in the area and a corn and grist mill built by John Coonan on the lands of Cornelius O'Callaghan in 1772.
