ETRTO sizes apply to rims and tyres for vehicles of all types, including bicycles. The great advantage of ETRTO sizing is that it is unambiguous; previously, nominal dimensions were used which were interpreted in different ways by different countries and manufacturers - a problem for the end user.
To take a common example, 195/55R16 would mean that the nominal width of the tire is approximately 195 mm at the widest point, the height of the side-wall of the tire is 55% of the width (107 mm in this example) and that the tire fits 16-inch-diameter (410 mm) rims. The code gives a direct calculation of the theoretical diameter of the tire.
The BelAZ 75710 has a conventional two-axle setup but the wheels are doubled, one to an axle, imitating the 1950s International Payhauler 350. For this reason, it needs two 59/80R63 tires. [1] It also has four-wheel drive and four-wheel hydraulic steering which is unusual. It has a turning radius of about 31 m (102 ft). [2]
The M939 series uses 11:00 R20 tires with two tires per side per axle in the rear (rear tandem duals). This allows a heavy load to be carried on improved roads and most US trucks in the past have used them. The M939A1 and M939A2 series instead use oversized 14:00 R20 tires with a single tire on each side per axle, still with a tandem setup.
A size 55/80R63 radial tire was developed by Michelin in conjunction with Caterpillar specifically for the first generation 797. [16] The Caterpillar 797B and 797F run 4.028 m (13.22 ft) tall, 5,300 kg (11,680 lb) Michelin 59/80R63 XDR. Most first generation 797s have been retrofitted to use the 59/80R63 tires as well. [17]
The Delivery truck L-7 had two front wheels between the cargo box and a chain driven single rear wheel, rivet assembled on a U-profile steel frame. It had an automobile steering wheel instead of the usual motorcycle handlebar for early vehicles of this kind.. It used 27 × 3.85 inch bicycle tires with an empty vehicle weight of 320 to 346 kg ...
