Information architecture (IA) is the structural design of shared information environments; the art and science of organizing and labelling websites, intranets, online communities and software to support usability and findability; and an emerging community of practice focused on bringing principles of design, architecture and information science to the digital landscape. [1]
Information assurance (IA) is the process of processing, storing, and transmitting the right information to the right people at the right time. [1] IA relates to the business level and strategic risk management of information and related systems, rather than the creation and application of security controls.
In software engineering and development, a software metric is a standard of measure of a degree to which a software system or process possesses some property. [ 1 ] [ 2 ] Even if a metric is not a measurement (metrics are functions, while measurements are the numbers obtained by the application of metrics), often the two terms are used as synonyms.
The function point is a "unit of measurement" to express the amount of business functionality an information system (as a product) provides to a user. Function points are used to compute a functional size measurement (FSM) of software.
A software design description (a.k.a. software design document or SDD; just design document; also Software Design Specification) is a representation of a software design that is to be used for recording design information, addressing various design concerns, and communicating that information to the design’s stakeholders.
The IA Institute was created to replace a similar group called the Argus Center for Information Architecture (ACIA), which was closely associated with Argus Associates, a commercial information architecture consultancy. During the first week of the creation of the Institute, 163 charter members joined. This number became 400 by August 2003.

The primary measurement of software is size, specifically functional size. The generic principles of functional size are described in the ISO/IEC 14143. [1] Software size is principally measured in function points. It can also be measured in lines of code, or specifically, source lines of code (SLOC) which is functional code excluding comments.
