A 70-page sidestory called Magi: Adventure of Sinbad was released as an additional material with the first volume of the anime series. It was later expanded into a regular series, which began serializing in Weekly Shōnen Sunday in May 2013, and later was moved to Shogakukan's webcomic site Ura Sunday .
The story takes place in a world where being a magical girl is a popular profession that involves exterminating mysterious creatures called Kaii (怪異).New college graduate Kana Sakuragi, who is struggling with job hunting, is able to put her excellent memory to use and helps magical girl Hitomi Koshigaya exterminate a Kaii in an emergency.
