The Kentucky Exposition Center (KEC), is a large multi-use facility in Louisville, Kentucky, United States.Originally built in 1956. [1] It is overseen by the Kentucky Venues and is the sixth largest facility of its type in the U.S., with 1,300,000 square feet (120,000 m 2) of indoor space.
Miles Park started life as Fairgrounds Speedway, a harness racing track in 1956, but was converted to thoroughbred racing and renamed Miles Park two years later, after being acquired by oilman and horseman General J. Fred Miles. [1] [2] The track struggled after a fire in May 1964 killed 26 thoroughbreds and burned down 13 barns. [3]
