Lamar is the last eastbound stop of the Lamar-Pueblo-Colorado Springs Outrider line. Highways US 50 is an east–west highway running from California to Maryland. It is also the main route to Pueblo and Las Animas. Prowers County Road 196 (the state has abandoned the highway) is an 11.4-mile (18.3 km) stretch that connects around Lamar to Wiley.

Bent's Old Fort is a fort located in Otero County in southeastern Colorado, United States.A company owned by Charles Bent and William Bent and Ceran St. Vrain built the fort in 1833 to trade with Southern Cheyenne and Arapaho Plains Indians and trappers for buffalo robes.

The Davies Hotel, at 122 N. Main in Lamar, Colorado, was built in 1902. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. [1] It is a three-story sandstone building with a flat roof, upon a stone foundation. It is 33 by 83 feet (10 m × 25 m) in plan. [2] It has also been known as the Payne Hotel. [2]
