Students at Nazareth Area High School in Nazareth, Pennsylvania in 1955. The current high school was first built in 1954 and opened to students on October 3, 1955. It was dedicated on April 8, 1956, to Frederic A. Marcks, a former teacher and the first Superintendent of the Nazareth Area School District, following the merger of the regional districts.
Nazareth Academy was established in 1928 by the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth. [2] Nazareth Academy educates young women at the high school level. In August 2018, the school named its first lay principal, James Meredith.
As of 2021, there are 151 elementary/K-8 schools, 16 middle schools, and 57 high schools in the School District of Philadelphia, excluding charter schools. [ 1 ] The Thomas K. Finletter School serves kindergarten through 8th grade students in the Olney neighborhood of Philadelphia.
