Template index/WikiProject banners is part of WikiProject Birds, an attempt at creating a standardized, informative and easy-to-use ornithological resource. If you would like to participate, visit the project page , where you can join the discussion and see a list of open tasks.
For example, the Tulips project could create {{WikiProject Tulips Tasks}}, which could then be transcluded where needed. Common places to include the template are the project pages themselves, and sometimes inside of a show/hide block in the project banner. Interested project participants can also transclude the template on their user pages.

If you are producing a banner and want it to be able to fit in a standard banner slot, it should match one of the sizes given at standard banner sizes. Please group by and give the size to make it easy for people to find the banner which will fit their space.
In certain circumstances, it can cause the page to exceed the limit. If this happens, find out which enclosed template is already "near the limit" and notify the WikiProject responsible for that template that there is an issue. Include details, as some WikiProject templates only get "close to the limit" with uncommon combinations of parameters.
Keeping an inactive project's template on relevant talkpages helps any group of users who later wishes to revive the project. This template will auto-categorize the project banner into Category:Inactive WikiProject banners. The easiest way to convert a banner template to an inactive state, is to replace main with inactive.
