The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) is a New Orleans–based non-profit professional association representing men's and women's cross country and track & field coaches in the United States. The organization includes thousands of coaches from the NCAA, NAIA, NJCAA, and state high school athletic associations. [1]
In earlier editions before 1974, running distances were often measured in yards. All races were in yards until 1928. From then on, races were measured in meters for Olympic years and yards for other years, except 1933 to 1951 inclusive and 1959. In the early years, the 220 yard hurdles were included for many years in lieu of the 440 yard hurdles.
William Squires (November 24, 1932 – June 30, 2022) was an American track and field coach. He was well known for coaching the Greater Boston Track Club at the height of its marathon success, including marathoners Bill Rodgers, Alberto Salazar, Dick Beardsley, and Greg Meyer.

On August 5, 2010, Larsen was named co-chairman of the USATF Coaches Registry Task Force. [15] Larsen is the subject of a full-length documentary, City Slickers Can't Stay With Me: The Coach Bob Larsen Story, released April 19, 2015. [16] [17] He is currently a coach at the Mammoth Lakes Mammoth Track Club high altitude training camp. [9]
In 1984 he was women's team coach for track and field at the Summer Games in Los Angeles [1] and relay coach in 2008. [9] Johnson was part of the U.S. Track and Field Olympic coaching staff in 1976, 1984, 2004, and 2008. [2] Johnson was elected to the USA Track Coaches Hall of Fame in 1997.
Culley went on to coach at Georgetown University in September 2014. At the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials, Culley finished 7th in the 5000 m, with a time of 15:34.43. [ 4 ] She was the first American finisher at the 2009 World Cross Country Championships , finishing 21st with a time of 28:08.
