By 1988, the short-lived MainStreet chain's stores were converted to Kohl's. There was a 30-foot Titanic model on display from December 1972 until 1985, when model was moved to Marine Museum at Fall River. [11] It was a miniature constructed for the Titanic (1953 film). In 1988, MainStreet was added to the back of the mall; in March 1989, it would convert to Kohl's. In 1996, a Mervyn's was added to the front of the mall; this anchor closed when Mervyn's left the Twin Cities market in 2004 and became a JCPenney shortly thereafter.
The Carson Pirie Scott store became a Mervyns, and work began on adding a Kohl's department store.
