Peek Freans is the name of a biscuit-making company based in Bermondsey, London, England which is now a global brand of biscuits and related confectionery owned by various food businesses. History [ edit ]
During the First World War they produced biscuits for the war effort and devoted their tin-making resources to making cases for artillery shells. In 1921, Huntley & Palmers accept the invitation from London's Peek Frean to merge so both firms formed a holding company, "Associated Biscuits Manufacturers Ltd." [11] with a capital of 2.5 million. [12]
English Biscuit Manufacturers (EBM) was founded in 1965 as Peek Freans Pakistan Limited through a joint venture with 25.25 percent shareholding held by Peek Freans and 74.65 percent by House of Manji. [4] In 1966, it was renamed as English Biscuit Manufacturers after a rebranding of its UK-based parent company, Associated Biscuits. [5]
