Alton Square Mall. Alton Square Mall is a 634,181 square feet (58,917.3 m 2) shopping mall located in Alton, Illinois. [2][3] Its anchors are JCPenney [4] and an 8-screen NCG Cinemas, which is located in a converted Sears anchor store. A third anchor store, formerly Macy's, was demolished in 2017.

The Tudor Revival style hotel was built in 1923. In 1964, the mall was built as an extension of the hotel; it was one of the first fully enclosed shopping malls in Illinois.
