Dragon Ball Z: Bojack Unbound [a] is a 1993 Japanese animated science fantasy martial arts film and the ninth Dragon Ball Z feature film. It was released in Japan on July 10 at the Toei Anime Fair, where it was shown alongside Dr. Slump and Arale-chan: N-cha! From Penguin Village with Love and the first Yu Yu Hakusho film.
By 1996, the first sixteen anime films up until Dragon Ball Z: Wrath of the Dragon (1995) had sold 50 million tickets and grossed over ¥40 billion ($501 million) at the Japanese box office, making it the highest-grossing anime film series up until then, in addition to selling over 500,000 home video units in Japan.
The original release date in Japan was on March 6, 1993, at the Toei Anime Fair alongside Dr. Slump and Arale-chan: N-cha! Clear Skies Over Penguin Village. It was dubbed into English and released by Funimation in 2003. It was preceded by Dragon Ball Z: Super Android 13! and followed by Dragon Ball Z: Bojack Unbound.

A third English dub, which was produced and released by Solar Entertainment in the Philippines in 1998, also features an unknown cast. This version was packaged with the next film as a single film titled Dragon Ball Z: The Movie, and was released on VHS by Solar, and on VCD by Warner Home Video Philippines.
Another English dub of the film was produced for European markets by AB Groupe and dubbed in France and aired in the UK as The Legend of Shenron on Toonami UK in the summer of 2005, and was released on DVD as the alternate English language track on some European releases.
