We Are Messengers are an American Christian band originally from Monaghan, Ireland. They have been based in the US since 2015. [1] Their first studio album, We Are Messengers, was released in 2016 through Word Records and Curb Records. The album hit the top 10 on Billboard album charts and top 15 on the Billboard Heatseeker charts.
Matt Conner, giving the album five stars for CCM Magazine, describes, "Allow us to introduce you to the first great debut album of 2016. We Are Messengers is centered on Darren Mulligan's raw testimony, powerful vocal delivery and incredible charisma, with melodies and lyrical arrangements that somehow skew away from the norm in the most compelling way.
"Maybe It's Ok" is a single by American worship band We Are Messengers on their second extended-play Honest. [4] Written by Mulligan, Jonathan Smith, and Bryan Fowler, it was released as a single on November 9, 2018. [5] The song peaked at No. 5 on the US Hot Christian Songs chart, becoming their second top ten single and highest charting song. [6]
On 11 June 2021, We Are Messengers released "Come What May" as the lead single to their third studio album, Wholehearted (2021). [5] The single impacted Christian radio stations in the United States on 16 July 2021. [6] On 10 September 2021, We Are Messengers released a new version of the song, titled "Come What May +" featuring Cory Asbury. [7]
In August 2021, We Are Messengers announced that they will release their third studio album, Wholehearted, on 15 October 2021. [4] The album was written and recorded during the COVID-19 pandemic, [5] the band stating on social media the shutting down of tours led them to write new music as a way to process and document their feelings in an attempt to "make sense of a strange new world."
Honest is the first EP by We Are Messengers. Word Records in conjunction with Curb Records released the EP on March 29, 2019. [ 1 ] It was produced by Tedd Tjornhom and Benjamin Backus.
