3-2-1 Contact is an American science educational television show produced by the Children's Television Workshop (CTW, now known as Sesame Workshop). It aired on PBS from 1980 to 1988 and later ran on Noggin (a joint venture between the CTW and Nickelodeon ) from 1999 to 2003.
After the last episode aired, the show went into reruns until October 7, 1994. The show was revived for the 1995–96 PBS season as a teacher instruction program, Square One TV Math Talk. [citation needed] From 1999 to 2003, Square One was also shown on Noggin, a cable channel co-founded by Sesame Workshop.
A Mathnet comic briefly appeared in 3-2-1 Contact magazine. Six Mathnet books, based on episodes of the show, were published: Casebook 1: The Case of the Unnatural (based on Season 4, Episode 1) Casebook 2: Despair in Monterey Bay (based on Season 4, Episode 2) Casebook 3: The Case of the Willing Parrot (based on Season 2, Episode 1)
Thurman subsequently worked on most of CTW's other series, as a staff writer and cartoon voiceover on The Electric Company and 3-2-1 Contact, Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids, and as head writer/senior producer for Square One TV; on the later series, he provided the voice of Mr. Glitch and the off-screen announcer for Mathman, scripted the Mathnet ...
The show aired in syndication from September 10, 1993, to February 5, 1999, producing a total of six seasons and 100 episodes; beginning with its second season, a concurrent run of the series began airing on PBS from October 10, 1994, and ran until September 3, 1999, as it continued to be distributed in commercial first-run syndication.
