the bird and the bee is an American indie pop musical duo from Los Angeles, consisting of Inara George ("the bird") and Greg Kurstin ("the bee"). Kurstin is a nine-time Grammy Award–winning producer and multi-instrumentalist who has worked with artists including Sia, Adele, Beck, Kendrick Lamar, and the Foo Fighters. [1]
George was born in Towson, Maryland. She is the daughter of Lowell George, the founder of the rock and roll group Little Feat, and Elizabeth George. Jackson Browne wrote the song "Of Missing Persons" for Inara George after the death of her father, who died just before her fifth birthday. She has three half brothers named Luke, Forrest and Jed.
The album includes eight classic Daryl Hall and John Oates covers, along with the original song "Heard It on the Radio". Shirley Manson of the alternative rock band Garbage performs backing vocals during the chorus of their cover of the 1982 Billboard Hot 100 number-one single " Maneater ".
For night three of the Hanukkah Sessions, Dave Grohl and Greg Kurstin covered 10cc’s “The Things We Do for Love,” with Kurstin’s the Bird and the Bee bandmate Inara George handling vocals.
In 2004, Kurstin was introduced to singer Inara George by a mutual friend, Mike Andrews. Then producing George's solo debut, Andrews hired Kurstin as a pianist for the album. Kurstin and George clicked musically in the studio and together they formed the bird and the bee.
