St. Michael's Catholic Church is a parish of the Roman Catholic Church in Tarnov, Nebraska, within the Archdiocese of Omaha. It is noted for its historic church , located at 309 3rd Street and completed in 1901, and its adjacent cemetery, platted in 1880.
The first monks lived in the Olsen family farmhouse and oversaw the conversion of the property to a seminary campus. The monastery would be named Mount Michael because of its location at the highest elevation in Douglas County, Nebraska and because the land was given to the monks on the feast of St. Michael the Archangel.
In the spring of 1970, the monks converted the seminary to a typical high school changing the name to Mount Michael Benedictine School, a Catholic residential high school encompassing grades 9 through 12 with a focus on college-prep curriculum. Mount Michael began as a five-day boarding school for students in Omaha and surrounding areas.
