Canyonlands Regional Airport, Moab (IATA: CNY, ICAO: KCNY, FAA LID: CNY) is a regional commercial airport in Grand County, Utah, United States, 21 miles (34 km) northwest of Moab. [1] The airport services two airlines, one subsidized by the Essential Air Service program.
In addition to scheduled passenger and charter flights, Salmon Air also operated scenic air tour flights over Idaho's Bighorn Crags and Flying B Ranch. [3] The airline was sold to McCall Aviation in 2009. The former owners of Salmon Air went on to found Gem Air in 2014. [4]
The airline also provides scheduled flights from Salt Lake City to Wendover, Utah. It added limited, unsubsidized service to Moab in October 2015, after SkyWest Airlines dropped the destination and Great Lakes Airlines failed to commence its proposed subsidized service.
Blanding saw commuter airline service with direct flights to Moab and Salt Lake City, Utah by at least three carriers from the 1970s through the 1990s: Sun Valley Key Commuter flew Piper Navajo's in 1976. [2] Transwestern Airlines flew Aero Commander's and single engine Cessna aircraft from 1977 through 1980.
