Speed Racer, also known as Mach GoGoGo (Japanese: マッハ GoGoGo (ゴーゴーゴー), Hepburn: Mahha GōGōGō), is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Tatsuo Yoshida. It was originally serialized in print in Shueisha 's 1966 Shōnen Book .
The chapters from Mach GoGoGo were originally published in Shueisha's Shōnen Book. Selected parts of the series were first published in short pamphlet-sized issues by NOW Comics . The first volume of the series was later published by Wildstorm Productions under the title Speed Racer: The Original Manga ( ISBN 978-1-56389-686-6 ).

The series follows the adventures of an orphan teenager named Speed who dreams of being a famed car racer like the one he is named after. He takes a bus to the elite Racing Academy, founded by the Racer family, and soon experiences the difficulties of fitting in and competing with X, the best racer/student in the school, and Speed Racer's son.
