The area is a Registered Historic Place and part of the central campus of Georgia Tech. Located in Midtown Atlanta, Georgia, United States, it is roughly bounded by North Avenue on the South, Bobby Dodd Stadium, a 55,000 seat football stadium on the East, Bobby Dodd Way on the North and Cherry Street on the West.
Opened in Fall 2011, North Avenue Dining Hall (sometimes colloquially referred to as Nave) is a dining hall on East Campus located in the North Avenue Apartment complex. The dining hall was part of a large renovation project conducted after Georgia Tech's acquisition of the apartments from Georgia State.
The North Avenue Apartments (commonly known as "North Ave") are also noted as the first Georgia Tech buildings to rise above the top of Tech Tower. Open to second-year undergraduate students and above, the buildings are located on East Campus, across North Avenue and near Bobby Dodd Stadium, putting more upperclassmen on East Campus. [65]
In 2000, the building was financed by a $15 million donation from successful internet entrepreneur and former Georgia Tech student Chris Klaus. [1] [2] Klaus was a founder of both Kaneva and Internet Security Systems. [3] At the time of Klaus' contribution, it was the fifth-largest contribution by an individual in Georgia Tech's history. [1]
