The BMW M6 is a high-performance version of the 6 Series marketed under the BMW M sub-brand from 1983 to 2019 (with a break from 1990 to 2004). Introduced in the coupe body style, the M6 was also built in convertible and fastback sedan ('Gran Coupe') body styles for later generations.
The BMW M6 GTLM is an endurance grand tourer (GT) car constructed by the German automobile manufacturer BMW.The car was announced to be under development, through a press release in October 2015, following the announcement and unveiling of the BMW M6 GT3, [3] although few of the car's technical specifications were revealed. The BMW 6 Series is a range of grand tourers produced by BMW since 1976. It is the successor to the E9 Coupé and is currently in its fourth generation. BMW M models of X Series and Z Series models typically just have the model name "M" (e.g. X6 M, Z4 M). "M Performance" models have the letter "M" inserted after the series, followed by the rest of the naming convention for the non-M models (e.g. X6 M50d).
The F12 shares a platform and many features with the F10 5 Series and F01 7 Series, with the two-door F12/13 models having a shorter wheelbase than the F10, while the four-door F06's wheelbase matches the F10's. The M6 versions are powered by the S63 twin-turbocharged V8 engine mated to a 7-speed dual clutch transmission.
The M635CSi is the first of the BMW M6 model line and is powered by the M88/3 straight-six engine. [3] In North America, the vehicle is badged as "M6" and uses the less powerful BMW S38 engine. [4] The eventual successor to the nameplate, the E63 6 Series, was released in 2004 after a 16-year hiatus.
The BMW M3 (E92/E93) was the last "traditional" M car left, as the rest of the list features turbocharged engines. The next iteration of the M3 (F80) and M4 (F82/F83) features a twin-turbocharged straight-6 engine.
