The Toronto–York Spadina subway extension (TYSSE) is an extension of the Toronto subway's Line 1 Yonge–University which opened on December 17, 2017. It runs 8.6 kilometres (5.3 mi) northwest from the line's previous terminus at Sheppard West station serving six new stations and terminating at Vaughan Metropolitan Centre station near Jane Street and Highway 7 in Vaughan.
The Central Subway, with three new subway stations and one new surface station, opened on November 19, 2022. [5] The system has 115 stations, of which 67 (58%) are accessible. All twelve subway stations plus 25 surface stations have high-level platforms, 34-inch (860 mm) high, that allow for accessible level boarding at all doors. [6]
The station itself was built by cut-and-cover but east of the station the tracks continue through dual bored tunnels toward Bessarion station, while west of the station similar tunnels go to Sheppard–Yonge station, where the tracks cross over the Yonge–University–Spadina line. [citation needed]
