The Colosseum fighters then noticed that Luffy is missing and one of them sees Luffy riding Ucy the Bull while climbing the colossal arm toward the giant's head. Pica noticed this and grew his arm back, before going to strike his attacker, but Luffy was ready and breaks the giant's head off with a Grizzly Magnum.
Luffy in his enthusiasm, votes to go to the island, though most of his crew are reluctant to go with him. The crew than receives a distress call from someone on the island who is being attacked by a samurai. They then draw sticks on who will go with Luffy, and who will stay on the ship, with Zoro, Robin, and Usopp coming with Luffy.
Carrot then shows the crew the newspaper, where they find out that Luffy and Sanji's bounties have increased, with Sanji initially happy that his bounty is now slightly higher than Zoro's, but becomes dismayed that his bounty now contains his family name while Luffy is now considered the Fifth Emperor of the Sea.
The battle between Luffy and Lucci continues, with Luffy overpowering Lucci. The rest of the Straw Hats learn from Vegapunk that certain Devil Fruit powers are able to be replicated through blood transfusion. Luffy rejoins Jinbe and the others, as the group makes their way to the Labophase area of Egghead.
Luffy comes under attack from two vice admirals and Kizaru, then collapses from his injuries and exhaustion. Whitebeard tells Luffy to stay out of the rest of the battle, but admires his persistence. The battle continues as Akainu engages Whitebeard, the allied pirates arrive to help Whitebeard's pirates, and the Pacifistas arrive to fight them.
A battle begins between him and Luffy as he tries to figure out where exactly he left the map. At one point, Buggy puts Luffy in a tank of seawater in the hopes that he will reveal the map's location.
Shuzo attacks Panz Fry directly but is intercepted by Luffy. Shuzo then kicks Luffy into the sea. Zoro jumps into the water to save his captain, and Shuzo and Sanji get into an argument. Shuzo tells Momomga his reason why he quit the marines, much to the dismay of the rest of his crew. Luffy and Zoro then resurface and Luffy threatens Shuzo.
