Pasadena (/ ˌ p æ s ə ˈ d iː n ə /) is a city in the U.S. state of Texas, located in Harris County.It is part of the Houston–The Woodlands–Sugar Land metropolitan area. As of the 2020 U.S. census, the city's population was 151,950, [4] making it the 23rd most populous city in Texas and the second most populous in Harris County, after Houston.
The citizens of Pasadena may initiate ordinances to be voted on by the City Council by submitting a petition signed by qualified voters of the city. [clarification needed] Citizens also have the power to override legislation enacted by the City Council by submitting a petition of voters. Voters may recall council members or the mayor.
The Verne Cox Center is a division of the Parks & Recreation Department of the City of Pasadena. [1] The 15,000-square-foot (1,400 m 2 ) facility is fully accessible with a gymnasium, weight room, kitchen, two multipurpose activity rooms, bathrooms with showers and lockers, a swimming pool, and two wheelchair accessible softball fields.
It is located adjacent to both La Porte and Seabrook, Texas. In 1965 the City of Pasadena and the City of Houston both annexed an area that included the site of Bayport resulting in a lawsuit between Pasadena and City of Houston. Houston was joined by Harris County and Humble Oil & Refining Company in the lawsuit.
