The college was founded in 1876 as part of the larger statewide university system in Indiana. The school was located in Ladoga, Indiana, but was moved to Danville, Indiana in 1878 after purchasing the former Danville Academy buildings. Normal Hall is the only remaining building associated with the Central Indiana Normal School at Ladoga. [2]
The league was created in 1964; previously teams competed in the "East Bay Division" (EBD) of the Diablo Valley Athletic League (DVAL). Its member institutions are located in the eastern region of the San Francisco Bay Area, in the cities of Concord, Danville, San Ramon, Dublin, Pleasanton, and Livermore.
The Danville Veterans rejoined the Three-I League in 1922–1932, winning league championships in 1927 and 1930. Danville was an affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals from 1927–1932. Joe McGinnity, 1946 Baseball Hall of Fame Inductee. After World War II, the Brooklyn Dodgers came to town with their Danville Dodgers affiliate in the Three-I League.
In 2010, The Luray Wranglers won the Valley League Baseball Championship with a record of 33–18. [2] At the end of the 2012 season the Wranglers moved to Charles Town, WV and became the Cannons. [3] In September 2015 the Cannons moved from Charles Town, West Virginia, to their current home in Purcellville, Virginia. [4] [5]
The Northern Illinois Huskies are the athletic teams that represent Northern Illinois University (NIU). The Huskies are a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I and the Mid-American Conference (MAC).
As a result of the Sports Act of 1978, the AAU no longer had power over Olympic sports in the United States. A spin-off group, The Athletics Congress, held its first national track and field championships in 1980. The Athletics Congress was renamed USA Track & Field in 1993, and they have organized the annual championships ever since. [1]
Page County Courthouse is a historic courthouse building located at Luray, Page County, Virginia. It was built in 1832–1833, and consists of a two-story, four-bay court house with three-bay, one-story wings. The four-bays of the pedimented gable facade open onto a ground floor arcade with rounded arches in the Jeffersonian Roman Revival style.
