Mayhem performing live in 2012. Mayhem is a Norwegian black metal band from Oslo.Formed in 1984, the group originally featured guitarist Øystein "Euronymous" Aarseth (originally known as "Destructor"), bassist and vocalist [1] Jørn "Necrobutcher" Stubberud and drummer Kjetil Manheim.
The band took their name from the Venom song "Mayhem with Mercy". [4] The band members were primarily influenced by groups such as Venom, Motörhead, Black Sabbath, Slayer, Bathory, and Celtic Frost [5] as well as Parabellum. [6]

He was a co-founder and guitarist of the Norwegian black metal band Mayhem and was the only constant member from the band's formation in 1984 until his death in 1993. He was also founder and owner of the extreme metal record label Deathlike Silence Productions and record shop Helvete .
He is the band's only remaining original member, [1] as Messiah and Manheim left Mayhem, respectively, in 1986 and 1988, and Euronymous was murdered in 1993. He has also played in other bands, including L.E.G.O., Kvikksølvguttene, Bloodthorn (guest artist), [ 2 ] and Checker Patrol.
Jan Axel Blomberg (born 2 August 1969), better known by his stage name Hellhammer, [1] is a Norwegian drummer renowned for his role as the drummer of the black metal band Mayhem, which he joined in 1988. He is the only member to have appeared on all of their albums.
When Hellhammer decided to revive Mayhem in 1994 after the deaths of both Euronymous and Dead, and the imprisonment of Count Grishnakh, he invited Kristiansen to return as the band's vocalist. Kristiansen was known for giving extremely intense live performances, often cutting himself onstage and frequently landing in intensive care units. [2]
