  2. Maintenance record on Carfax | Cadillac Owners Forum

Carfax, as has been mentioned is somewhat voluntary when it comes to dealers. I own an independent automotive repair shop and use Carfax to decipher the vin number. It is part of the garage management software. In doing this any repairs performed at my shop automatically will be reported to Carfax. I can't opt out on certain cars.

  3. What does this Carfax report tell me? | Cadillac Owners Forum

    www.cadillacforums.com/threads/what-does-this-carfax...

Sounds like a reoccurring issue the previous owner kept having them look at. CarFax is only one tool for scoping out a pre-owned vehicle. Inputs are voluntary and often missing critical information. That said, my CarFax report listed an accident during the previous lease which the salesman would never have mentioned.

  5. Dealer refuses to honour warranty without a Carfax

    www.cadillacforums.com/threads/dealer-refuses-to-honour...

Recently, I brought my car to the dealer (which is still under original GM warranty) and was informed that now, no repairs under the warranty would be honoured on the car unless I supplied a Carfax (at my expense), a copy of the registration, and a copy of the sales contract. I am told that GM has apparently “changed the warranty rules” on ...

  7. Carfax and Title show "United States Government" as last owner

    www.cadillacforums.com/threads/carfax-and-title-show...

CARFAX is essentially useless for anything other than title changes and emissions tests. Ask a GM service writer to pull the car's VIS from their database - that will give you all the GM warranty, recall, and some shop work on that car.

  8. Is this a red flag on the Carfax? | Cadillac Owners Forum

    www.cadillacforums.com/threads/is-this-a-red-flag-on-the...

But in general, the rep. said this issue likely wasn't a red flag, as it this is typically a sign that the customer upgraded to performance coils, and one was bad out of the box. I actually saw a spark plug change on the Carfax that I missed my first time through. However, I see no evidence of a rear diff fluid change.

  9. What is "Listed as a manufacturer vehicle Sold at auction" in...

    www.cadillacforums.com/threads/what-is-listed-as-a...

The CarFax report says it was listed for sale May 15th. $39K seems like a smoking deal for this model, but it hasn't sold. The CarFax also says "Listed as a manufacturer vehicle Sold at auction" 3 days before they listed it for sale. Why would a new car with 2,300 miles be sold at auction?

  10. How can I find out who my car's previous owner was?

    www.cadillacforums.com/threads/how-can-i-find-out-who-my...

Congrats on the purchase. Call any Cadillac dealer with the VIN # and find out if the alternator recall has been done. You can theoretically get the name of the previous owner from the title, and Carfax will generally tell you the number of previous owners and locations where the car was registered. Reply Like. 11. Buying a car originally from Canada? | Cadillac Owners Forum

    www.cadillacforums.com/threads/buying-a-car-originally...

Understand that the US / Canadian currency differences has created a huge buying opportunity for US buyers. Cars from Canada are being sent to the US in droves. The warranty on GM products is North American so you will have warranty. But you are buying from a Cadillac dealer so get them to put all your concerns to rest (and in writing) and buy ...
