Oregon. I'd like to discuss failures and known issues of SS scopes by SWFA, both fixed and variables. Please share any failures or issues you've had with them, such as tracking, failure to hold zero, reticle subtension errors, or even lesser issues. If you must, include pet peeves such as turret height, but that really isn't the point of this ...
Purchased an SWFA 2.5-10x32 Compact a couple months ago, mostly to find out about it personally, rather than depend on Internet rumors. The big complaint was a listed eye relief of 2.6 inches, though that's on 10x, and in just about all variable scopes eye relief gets shorter at higher magnifications.
10x has a 4.2mm exit eye pupil so useable in twilight but not ideal. 12x has a 3.5mm exit eye pupil so not as bright as a 10 but brighter than a 16x. 16x has a 2.6mm exit eye pupil so not ideal in low light. 20x has a 2.1mm exit eye pupil so this willl look rather grey in twilight.
Re: How to use that new SWFA scope- reticle, turrets and proper usage. From the reticle and target, dial- left .1mil to center the group. Loosen turret screws, lift off, spin and align with the "0" indicator mark. Zeroing is done. No mental gymnastics, no fuss, no conversions, no weirdness.
Good expensive scope: Hawke Airmax. These are nice, good glass, multiple etched reticle choices, good solid clicks on turrets - pretty decent package overall. ~$225-300 depending on power range. Good cheap scope: Tasco Air Rifle Scopes. Surprisingly good glass, etched reticles (duplex only) good solid clicks on turrets.

Central KY. Finally got around to testing out the BDC reticle in the SWFA Ultralight. I was shooting 77 grain SMKs at 2660 fps out of a 16" barrel AR. I placed a target out at 300 yards. Fired 5 rounds using the 300 meter BDC line. Looking through the spotter, saw nothing. Loaded up another 5 rounds and shot one round at a steel target just ...
Several Leupold scopes in 6x36 and 6x42 have done real well for me. Have a 6x SWFA as well and am very pleased with it. Varmints, coyotes, antelope, mule deer, whitetail, black bear and elk... My farthest shots on game with them were a bit over 400 yards, no problem with 30-06 or 25-06. For quite some time all of my hunting was done with 6x scopes.
Re: VX-3i 2.5-8x36mm vs SWFA SS 2.5-10x32 Ultralight. As much as I like the SS Ultralight, I would be hesitant to put it on a kicker. It is durable enough, but eye relief is a bit short. Leupold 2.5-8x36 is a good option. I would also look at Vortex Razor HD LH 1.5-8x32.
With the exception of the Swarovski 3-9x36, the GPO had the widest FOV by over 2 feet at 100 yds on 3x. I compared the GPO to a NF NXS and SHV, SWFA 6x, Steiner NightHunter Extreme, and NF ATACR. I stapled a $1 bill at 100 yards, and set all scope on 6x due to the swfa only being a fixed 6x. I looked for clarity and resolution around the ...
