As of January 2016, there were 306 public healthcare institutions in Serbia, operated by the Ministry of Health of Serbia. [1] The ministry classifies hospitals into five categories: Healthcare center ( Serbian : Дом здравља ) – 151 healthcare centers, providing primary healthcare to most of the municipalities and cities ;
It is the second largest hospital in Serbia after Clinical Centre of Serbia (based in Belgrade) and serves more than 2 million people mostly from Southern and Southeastern Serbia. [ 3 ] In December 2017, new main building of the Clinical Centre spreading over 45,000 square meters with surrounding clinics and building was officially opened. [ 4 ]
