The Cho Doo-soon case (Korean: 조두순 사건) refers to an assault that took place in Ansan, South-Korea, in December 2008, in which an eight-year-old girl known only as Na-young (a pseudonym) was kidnapped and raped by Cho Doo-soon, a 56-year-old male, in a bathroom inside a church. She was seriously injured in the attack.
Cho Doo-soon, a convicted felon who kidnapped and sexually assaulted a 3rd-grade elementary schoolgirl in 2008, was given a reduced sentence to 12 years in prison as he was drunk and judicially feeble-minded during the assault, and was scheduled for release in 2020. The petition demanded a re-sentencing of his case with life imprisonment.
