The facility features a beautiful 50-meter pool with a 12-foot-deep diving well. Other enjoyable features are a separate zero-depth wading pool with bubblers. The main pool has a 25-foot-high, 150-foot-long water slide and an SCS interactive water play structure in the shallow end. A concession stand and grass area round out the facility.

Construction began on Woodfield Mall in October 1969 [9] and the mall opened on September 9, 1971, with 59 stores, growing to 189 stores with 1.9 million retail square feet by 1973, along with a 135-foot (41 m) water tower to supply water to the mall and the nearby village. It was the largest mall in the United States at the time of its opening.

In addition to a 200,000-square-foot (19,000 m 2) Nordstrom, Old Orchard also expanded the mall by 100,000 square feet (9,300 m 2) as part of a $200 million expansion.
