Catawba County (/ k ə ˈ t ɔː b ə / kuh-TAW-buh) [1] is a county in the U.S. state of North Carolina. As of the 2020 census, the population was 160,610. [2] Its county seat is Newton, [3] and its largest community is Hickory. The county is part of the Hickory-Lenoir-Morganton, NC Metropolitan Statistical Area.
The city of Hickory, located north of Brookford, has been extending its borders through annexation into the Mountain View area and now nearly splits the CDP into north and south halves. North Carolina Highway 127 passes through the community, leading north 4 miles (6 km) to the center of Hickory and south 4 miles (6 km) to NC Highway 10 .
