Switch expressions are introduced in Java SE 12, 19 March 2019, as a preview feature. Here a whole switch expression can be used to return a value. There is also a new form of case label, case L-> where the right-hand-side is a single expression. This also prevents fall through and requires that cases are exhaustive.
The switch parser function, coded as "#switch", selects the first matching branch in a list of choices, acting as a case statement. Each branch can be a value , an expression ( calculation ), or a template call, [ 1 ] evaluated and compared to match the value of the switch.
Switch statements can allow compiler optimizations, such as lookup tables. In dynamic languages , the cases may not be limited to constant expressions, and might extend to pattern matching , as in the shell script example on the right, where the *) implements the default case as a glob matching any string.
ALGOL W is a programming language. It is based on a proposal for ALGOL X by Niklaus Wirth and Tony Hoare as a successor to ALGOL 60.ALGOL W is a relatively simple upgrade of the original ALGOL 60, adding string, bitstring, complex number and reference to record data types and call-by-result passing of parameters, introducing the while statement, replacing switch with the case statement, and ...
In the following, label is an optional identifier terminated by a colon, and block is a sequence of one of more Perl statements surrounded by braces. All looping constructs except for the C-style for-loop can have a continue block that is executed after each iteration of the loop body, before the loop condition is evaluated again.
A loop-switch sequence [1] (also known as the for-case paradigm [2] or Anti-Duff's Device) is a programming antipattern where a clear set of steps is implemented as a switch-within-a-loop. The loop-switch sequence is a specific derivative of spaghetti code .

Link aggregation between a switch and a server In computer networking , link aggregation is the combining ( aggregating ) of multiple network connections in parallel by any of several methods. Link aggregation increases total throughput beyond what a single connection could sustain, and provides redundancy where all but one of the physical ...
