Still Life with Flowers, 1665, Musée Thomas-Henry, Cherbourg-en-Cotentin. Willem van Aelst (16 May 1627 – buried 22 May 1683) [1] was a Dutch Golden Age artist who specialized in still-life painting with flowers or game.
The painting follows in a tradition of Dutch and Flemish flower still life paintings showing a pocket watch attached to a blue ribbon with a wind-up key. This is one of many recurring symbols of the Vanitas genre that Van Aelst and others used:

Evert van Aelst, sometimes known as Everard Aalst, (1602 in Delft – 19 February 1657 in Delft) [1] was a Dutch still life painter. Van Aelst was the uncle and teacher of Willem van Aelst . Both were famous for their still life paintings of game, fish, vases, etc.
