The sport in the United States probably originated from early settlers from the United Kingdom. Clubs existed long before the American Lawn Bowling Association was created in Buffalo, New York, on July 27, 1915. The Eastern and Western Divisions were created in 1937.
Dropping back into the Premier Division of the Wessex League, the club were renamed New Milton Town. [4] In 2012–13 they finished bottom of the Premier Division and were relegated to Division One after rescinding their resignation from the league when a proposed merger with Bashley fell through.

New Milton water tower. On 23 August 1940, 8 August 1942 and 22 January 1943 bombing raids were carried out upon New Milton by the German Luftwaffe. The town's water tower was suggested as the target. During the Second World War, New Milton housed evacuees and was a transit station for soldiers going to the battlefields.
