The 4th Infantry Division deployed from Fort Lewis to Camp Enari, Pleiku, Vietnam on 25 September 1966 (The 2nd Brigade actually deployed on 21 July and arrived in Vietnam on August 2nd aboard the Nelson M Walker and was flown to Pleiku) and served more than four years, returning to Fort Carson, Colorado on 8 December 1970.
Camp Enari was established near Dragon Mountain (Núi Hàm Rồng) and Highway 19, 12 km southeast of Pleiku. The base was named for 1st Lieutenant Mark Enari, the first 4th Infantry Division member awarded the Silver Star (posthumously) in Vietnam, who was killed in action on 2 December 1966.

Operation Wayne Grey was an operation carried out by the United States Army, 1st Brigade, 4th Infantry Division and supporting elements, on March 1 to April 14, 1969. Its main objective was to cut off lines of communication and supply to the People's Army of Vietnam (PAVN) 24th and 66th Infantry Regiments as well as preventing them from retreating into Cambodia.

The 4th Infantry Division Artillery ("Ivy Gunners") or DIVARTY is the force fires headquarters for the 4th Infantry Division of the United States Army.The 4th DIVARTY has been active from 1917 to 1921, 1935–1939, 1940–1946, 1948–1995, 1996–2007, and most recently reactivated in 2015.
The operation was a continuation of the recently concluded Operation Sam Houston in the same general area. 4th Infantry Division commander Major general William R.
