When an ex-Pacific typhoon is absorbed into a storm headed to California, we don't say "Typhoon XYZ struck California". We speak of the "remnants of (or the moisture from) former Typhoon XYZ". A title which purports to be a list of hurricanes---sans qualifier---is misleading when the fact is, not one hurricane has ever made landfall in California.
