The Santa Ana Zoo at Prentice Park in Santa Ana, California, is a 20-acre (8.1 ha) zoo focusing on the animals and plants of Central and South America. The Santa Ana Zoo hosts more than 270,000 people annually. The zoo opened in 1952 and is owned and operated by the City of Santa Ana.
Developed in the late 1940s by Reginald Appleyard in Suffolk with the name "Miniature Silver Appleyard", it was intended to be very attractive and docile ducks. The breed is known to be a crossing of Khaki Campbells and White calls, the duck received very little interest until its standardization in the United Kingdom year 1997 where it received the new name of "Silver Bantam".
