In December 2011, Turkmenistan's first proprietary sports channel, "Sport", was established as part of a state-run campaign to promote the importance of sports to the Turkmen people, [20] which also included Berdimuhamedow's rap song "Sportly Turkmenistan" that went viral worldwide. Turkmenistan (Turkmen: Türkmenistan) is a state-owned Turkmenian television channel founded in 2004 aimed at an international audience. [1] The channel was announced in February and started broadcasting on 12 September the same year.
The channel broadcasts from 07:00 to 23:30 (on average) and transmits all editions of Watan Habarlary along with Altyn Asyr and Ýaşlyk. Almost all Miras programs are of its own production. These include news programs related to the cultural life of the country and abroad, discussion programs, and broadcasts from concert and theater venues.
Turkmenistan broadcasts 8 public television channels (7 of them on the territory of the whole country, and 1 only in Ashgabat). All broadcast in the Turkmen language with the exception of the Turkmenistan news channel, which broadcasts in 7 languages. They do not differ from each other in news content.
